Trump said “I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and wouldn't lose any voters". It's interesting that the example he chose to illustrate the power and influence he has over his followers was killing someone in public. It didn't cross his mind that he could have wielded that power to do good. If Trump really has that much influence over his people, then he could have implored them to wear masks and become part of the solution. If he had done that then the pandemic would be under control, the economy would be humming and he would likely be in good shape for November. He could have been the hero of this story. But he chose to wield his power for evil. He chose to be the villain.
