If you’re a watch enthusiast, you’ll be familiar with cult, independent marques like Greubel Forsey, MB&F, and Urwerk. But if you're truly in the know, you'd have heard of a new crop of independent brands that have emerged in the last couple of years. They’re collectively – and somewhat affectionately – known as “micro-brands”. Many of them got off the ground as successfully funded Kickstarter projects, and typically produce less than 500 watches a year. And – this might come as a surprise – a fair few of them were started by Singaporeans.
