Instead of $25b, Trump is only getting $8b, which will likely be spent on eminent domain lawsuits and other legal and administrative issues that arise from this. This will take years to sort out, and Trump will be long gone by then, and the next president will end the whole project. It's most likely that no wall will ever be built. Then ... By declaring a national emergency for this non-issue Trump has set the precedent for the next Democratic president to do the same for actual emergencies, like climate change and gun violence. $8b is a small price to pay for the chance to solve the biggest issues we have. Let's hope Dems take advantage of this opportunity.
