Boating is less fun in bad weather, and not fun at all in bad weather with kids. Always be ready to postpone the trip if there is anything more than light drizzle. In Singapore, statistically rains falls more often in the afternoons. So book a morning slot and check the forecast before you untie the line. Having said this, most rain in Singapore is short lived. So when it rains while you are out, find your nearest safe harbour and enjoy the adventure!
This is one of the very few places in Singapore that makes me feel like I might be on holiday in Thailand. The dark sand is within view, the wake laps up onto it. You see this seated in the restaurant made of wood. Your table is covered from any rain but its open to the wind and sounds and the sailing boats coast by slowly.
Stop by Ah Hua kelong for 5 minutes to buy some fish. An unsual experience and great education on history culture and living conditions.
When we meet at the marina on Sentosa Island its a lovely experience. Walking past luxury yachts in the heat we arrive at a simple, old craft which is good up to 7 people. It's not luxury but it works, and we can enjoy the ride. Here are some recommended trips we can try... https://www.theboatshopasia.com/product/35_PuteriHarbour.pdf https://www.theboatshopasia.com/product/35_Southernislands-LazarusStJohn.pdf https://www.theboatshopasia.com/product/35_Southernislands-Hantu.pdf
We would meet at Royal Singapore Yacht Club and head on down to Lazarus for a walkabout and then ONE15 Marina for lunch or a coffee. Cool Breeze is a bigger boat for longer distances - internally only about 6 adults but for bigger water and badder weather. At the end of the four hour charter we can decamp at Prive for a debrief over cocktails and kid-friendly ice-cream. She's a Four Winns 268 Vista https://www.theboatshopasia.com/boat-charter.php?product_id=47&slug=Cool-Breeze
Chilly Buddy is light and fast, with a highly responsive outboard motor. Its a smaller craft, seating up to 7. Two pilot seats at the helm are away from the rest of the boat. Like golf, this craft is better experienced in pairs. https://www.quicksilver-boats.com/int/en/activ-605-open/ Similar adventures offered by Sunshine https://www.trunqd.com/post/6778?OUID=102&COLID=307&UID=228645845&CID=0m5TiY-f6eZEd8xIryl-6u3bp&stamp=04062019093832
